Green Workforce Demographics
The Greening Workforce – As the emerging green economy transforms industry and jobs, the Bureau of Labor Statistics is working closely with the U.S. Department of Labor and other key national agencies to understand the “greening” of industry sectors and to define emerging jobs and necessary skills.Delivered through SRC’s technology, new workforce demographics now show employment counts for occupations that have recently been designated as “going green”. (See Environmental Engineer map.)They include 119 occupations within local economies whose qualifications and skills are being transformed to meet green job requirements. The data indicate the employment number and percent as well as the concentration for each when compared to U.S. figures. nutshell
